Utamaro Kitagawa – Woman Holding a Paint Brush – Japanese Woodblock Print

Kitagawa Utamaro  喜多川 歌麿 (1753 – 1806) was one of the most highly regarded designers of ukiyo-e woodblock prints and paintings He is known for his bijin-ga depictions of beautiful women. He also produced nature studies, particularly illustrated books of insects.

Signed Utamaro hitsu (By Utamaro).  Print makers mark: Yamaguchiya Chusuke

Condition: As shown. Spotting and toning.  Tears around the edges. Remnants of tape under the four corners of the sheet.
