Beautiful large study of two flowering plants (tiger lilies and another lily) painted on old chain linked paper.  Vibrant colors and elegant composition.

Signed Joseph Loewenthal.  These were purchased as part of a group of drawings by two artists – Joseph and Max Loewenthal. We do not have further information on these artists (were they brothers, father and son?).

The paintings are keen observations of botany, but also have a marvelous naive quality to them.

Some spotting / soiling as shown, and a slight crease lower right.
