Born 1882 in Orleans – Died 1947 in Neuilly sur Seine
Maurice Asselin was a French painter associated with the École de Paris, best known for his still lifes, nudes, depictions of motherhood and landscapes of Brittany. Pansies were a frequent favorite in his still lives. Born in Orléans, he studied in Paris from the early 1900s and exhibited regularly at major French salons during the first half of the twentieth century.
Today, works by Asselin are held in several museum collections, including the Musée National d’Art Moderne in Paris and the British Museum in London.
