Charming Small Woodblock – Do I Hear the Old Mill Turning? (Sold)

Romantic early 20th Century Swiss woodblock print: In this poetic image, a man stands in the forest gazing down into a valley with a watermill.  Is it nostalgia, perhaps memories of a lover who lives in that house?  This is a picture that tells a story.  The text in German reads:  “Hoer Ich das Muehrad Gehen” (Do I hear the mill wheel turning?). Annotated by the artist below the image – this copy appears to have been given to a friend.

Condition: Some creases and spots as shown.  Paper has lightly colored with age.
