Cizhou Ware Ceramic Pillow in the form of a Kneeling Boy
Cizhou ware ceramic pillow
The pillow is designed in the form of a small boy kneeling on all fours. White glaze with brown painted features and details.
There are moulded patterns on the sides of the body. The knees and elbows of the figure are unglazed, perhaps to keep the pillow from slipping.
A similar piece in the Oriental Museum in Durham, England is identified as being from the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644).
