Philibert-Louis Debucourt

Philibert-Louis Debucourt
13 February 1755 – 22 September 1832

The French painter and engraver Philibert-Louis Debucourt was born in Paris in 1755 and produced often lightly satirical of scenes of French fashionable life in aquatint, or multi-plate color prints combining aquatint with line engraving.  He lived for over a decade in an apartment at the Louvre, and often cited that address on his prints. In addition to etchings based on his own drawings, he also made aquatints after Carle Vernet.
