Ernst Georg Heussler  (1903 Basel – 1982 Zurich)

Drawing of a a girl in a lace headdress. It may be a Spanish mantilla (the artist lived and worked in Spain) or it may be part of a Swiss traditional costume.

Dimensions: 42 X 29 cm

Condition: Light crinkling of sheet. There is a 1.5 inch tear running fromt he lower center margin to the edge of the girl’s dress.

Ernst Georg Heussler

1903 Basel – 1982 Zurich

The versatile Swiss artist Ernst Georg Heussler worked in many media – engravings and woodcuts, oil and watercolor, and large scale murals including in Tel-Aviv and in Basel. He was married to the artist Hey Heussler.

Studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Applied Arts) in Basel from 1917 to 1920 and later at the  Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris (1932).
The artist traveled widely in Italy, Southern France, Spain and England, and later in Morocco and Algeria.   He was in military service forfrom 1940 to 1945.
