Holocaust survivor Vavro Oravec did not become an artist until he moved to Prague after the Second World War. After the occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968 he emigrated to Bern, Switzerland.
The Jewish Museum In Prague organized an exhibition of his work in 2001 entitled “A Painter of Soul.”

Jörg Shimon Schuldhess
(1941 Basel – 1992 Basel)
Jörg Schulthess was born in Basel, the son of a father from Emmenthal and a sephardic Jewish mother who had emigrated from Italy. Schuldhess was a close friend of Jean Dubuffet and became interested in and influenced by Art Brut, particularly the work of Adolf Wolfli.
